Lebe Kitchen | DIY moisture-proof baking sugar powder/icing
Overview
Recently, many children have asked us if we can make powdered sugar/icing by ourselves? I said of course, the production steps are very simple, you only need a mixer and a sieve to start! And the cost has been reduced by about half, and you no longer have to worry about baking being a bottomless pit!

Steps
-
Add the white sugar into the mixer three times separately
-
The same goes for cornstarch, add it to the mixer three times separately
-
If you have this kind of mixer, just press the nut mixing mode, but if you don’t have this kind of mixer, don’t worry, just turn your mixer to the maximum speed (when using the mixer, you need to rest for 25 seconds and 5 seconds, otherwise the life of the mixer will be shortened)
-
Start grinding the first white sugar
-
Grind for about 8-10 seconds until you can see a fine powder
-
Then add the second amount of sugar and cornstarch
-
Then continue to grind for about 8-10 seconds until you can see a fine powder
-
Add the last bits of sugar and cornstarch into the mixer
-
Continue to grind until no white sugar is visible
-
Pour the ground sugar into the sieve
-
Sieve out the unground sugar
-
If the white sugar that cannot be ground is left after sifting, you can pour it back into the mixer and continue mixing (if there is very little left, don't use it)
-
You can feel the powdered sugar you made yourself
-
It feels very delicate

There are comparison pictures with and without cornstarch. Without cornstarch, it is easy to form hard lumps. This phenomenon is because the moisture in the air is absorbed by the sugar. Therefore, the storage method and fineness of sugar powder with cornstarch are also superior!
