Overview
Corn silk has the effects of diuresis, swelling, calming the liver and promoting gallbladder. Corn silk contains large amounts of potassium nitrate, vitamin K, sitosterol, stigmasterol and a volatile alkaloid. It has diuretic, antihypertensive, hypoglycemic, hemostatic, choleretic and other effects. My daughter’s enlarged tonsils are prone to inflammation, so she often boils this water in summer.
