Chess birthday cake

Chess birthday cake

Overview

If you have eaten too many birthday cakes filled with fruit, it would be nice to have something different. The original flavor and the cocoa flavored chiffon are alternated, which gives a different taste. Not only does it look good on the outside, but it’s also amazing when cut into pieces. My mother who doesn’t like the cocoa taste says it’s delicious, and my husband even says it tastes better than the one with fruit. It’s not complicated at all to make with homemade tools, so let’s make it together~

Steps

  1. According to the size of the cake, make the following tools. Use transparent soft plastic materials to look better! Mine is an 8-inch one. Use the size traced on the bottom of the cake mold to measure the radius and divide it into 4 equal parts. It is best to have a compass. Draw 3 circles and cut slits according to the lines. Remember to leave 1 cm at each end and do not cut them, otherwise the circles will be separated~

  2. chiffon cake embryos, one each original flavor and cocoa flavor, divide the cake into 3 slices each.

  3. Place the prepared paper mold on the cake, use a demoulding knife to cut from the gap, remove the uncut part of the paper and cut it in an arc shape, and divide it into cake circles as shown below.

  4. Put them together at intervals, one circle for original flavor and one circle for cocoa flavor.

  5. Same as above, cocoa flavor first, then original flavor. Because there is no fruit in the middle of the cake and there is less cream, I used 4 slices.

  6. I used 4 pieces and stacked them up. Remember to space them out when stacking. One layer of original flavor on the outside and one layer of cocoa flavor on the outside. This is steps 4 and 5, a layer of 4 and a layer of 5, then a layer of 4 and then a layer of 5. (I’m sorry) Don’t put too thick butter in the middle of each layer, otherwise it will affect the effect of the chess pattern.

  7. Decorate as you like. I made this for my dad. I found a picture that looked like his and made a buttercream transfer.

  8. When you cut it and eat it, it turns into pieces~
