Prepare materials

Wash and core the red dates, being careful not to cut them

Glutinous rice needs to be soaked for at least 5 to 6 hours. I soak it the day before and make it the next day. Put glutinous rice in the middle of the red dates and press firmly

Steam in a steamer for 15 to 20 minutes

Add water to another wok, when the water boils add shredded ginger

Add a spoonful of white sugar, I used the leftover powdered sugar from making donkey hide gelatin cake. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium heat and simmer until thick syrupy consistency
