Fried red fruits with osmanthus
Overview
Fried red fruit is a snack in old Beijing. The name is fried red fruit. In fact, it is not fried, but boiled. White sugar and hawthorn are boiled together until the sugar becomes syrupy. I like the sweet and sour taste of hawthorn, which is appetizing and delicious. This year I made a lot of osmanthus sauce, so during the hawthorn season, this fried osmanthus and red fruit was born. It’s just that I used rock sugar instead. I personally think it tastes better with rock sugar, especially with the home-made sugar osmanthus, which has a rich aroma. The home-made osmanthus sauce has turned this old Beijing snack into our family’s private dish

Ingredients
Steps
-
Clean fresh hawthorn. Hawthorn is also called red fruit. Dig out the stem and core,
-
All dug hawthorns are set aside.
-
Break the rock sugar into small pieces with a food processor and put it into a pot. This will make it easier to boil. Add about 100 grams of water
-
Cook until the rock sugar is completely melted and the cooked sugar liquid is slightly viscous
-
Add hawthorn and simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes
-
After boiling, the sugar liquid will basically become syrupy.
-
Cool slightly until warm, add sugared osmanthus, do not add it too early, otherwise the flavor of the osmanthus will be emitted due to the temperature being too high, and the aroma will not be strong enough
-
Stir evenly and let it marinate naturally for half a day, allowing the fragrance of the osmanthus to be absorbed by the hawthorn. You can enjoy it
