"Fresh vegetables in winter" - apple pie (vegetables with fondant paste)
Overview
A while ago, I happened to see a foreign baking book in a bookstore. I casually browsed through it and saw this vegetable patch. When I saw this in the cold Beijing, I immediately felt so loved. So I wanted to try it when I came back. After many twists and turns, I finally made it this week.

Ingredients
Steps
-
After the butter has been softened in advance, mix it with low-gluten flour and fine sugar into coarse grains, and then add water;
-
After adding water, knead the semolina into a dough and place it in the refrigerator to rest for half an hour;
-
Sprinkle some flour on the cutting board, roll out part of the dough into a thin sheet;
-
Cover the rolled out dough on the baking sheet. The baking sheet has a certain depth and the dough should also be taken care of;
-
The excess dough can be rolled out with a rolling pin;
-
Use a fork to poke some holes in the bottom of the pie crust to prevent the bottom from arching and uneven baking when baking;
-
Pour the purchased apple jam directly into the baking pan;
-
Preheat the oven to 175 degrees and bake for 20 minutes;
-
Tomato fondant: Take an appropriate amount of fondant paste and drop in the pigment you want. If you want a darker color, you can increase the number of drops, but it is not recommended to drip too much. If you want to achieve a darker color, you can directly purchase darker pigments;
-
Knead fondant paste;
-
In the same way, take an appropriate amount of fondant paste and add green pigment to make the leaves on top of the tomatoes;
-
Apply some water on the top of the red tomatoes and cover the prepared green leaves on top;
-
Pea fondant: Take an appropriate amount of fondant paste, round it and flatten it;
-
Use a rolling pin to roll the flattened green fondant into an oval shape;
-
Pinch both ends with your hands;
-
Roll some green fondant into balls and put them into the pea skin;
-
Broccoli fondant: Broccoli fondant is divided into two kinds of green, lighter at the bottom and darker at the top. Make the bottom rod into a cone shape with a wide bottom and a narrow top;
-
Use scissors to cut the pointed end into four pieces;
-
Knead a lot of green balls with dark green to serve as the heads of broccoli, and stick them on the branches with clean water; the final effect is very fun, and my eldest son really liked it when he saw it. This weekend, there is an orange alert in Beijing, so we decided to make vegetables at home!
