Peel the onions, wash them, and chop them into pieces.

Peel the garlic cloves, wash them and cut into minced garlic.

Heat the wok over high heat and melt the butter.

After the butter melts, add the chopped onion and minced garlic and saute until fragrant.

Then add the stock, bring to a boil, add salt, sugar, soy sauce, and black pepper, and simmer over low heat. Stir constantly while cooking.

Add water to corn starch to form starch slurry.

After simmering the soup in the wok for 20 minutes, add starch slurry and cook until thickened.
