Vinegar potato shreds
Overview
Food and Memory - Vinegar potato shreds are no longer an ordinary home-cooked dish, but everyone has to decide on the right way to make it, right? The so-called most correct method is nothing more than the taste that I have been accustomed to eating since I was a child, and my mother’s taste! We often make vinegar-based potato shreds at home. One time, my father decided to make it himself on a whim. Seeing us eating so much that we even dipped the soup from the bottom of the bowl clean, he asked us with satisfaction, "Does what I make taste better than what your mother makes?" Mom winked at us, yes, you did a good job! We echoed, yes, dad, how did you make this? It’s really delicious! Then my dad tilted his head arrogantly and talked about how he made it. Put the oil in, break the dried chili peppers quickly, be sure to sprinkle out the chili seeds, and fry slowly over low heat. When the oil is hot, add soy sauce and pour a spoonful of vinegar! It tastes better than your grandma’s! Then he narrowed his eyes and thought about it for a long time. We took the opportunity to flatter a little, and my father, who didn't cook, immediately agreed that he would make shredded potatoes from now on. Only then did we understand what our mother meant by winking at us! Sometimes my mother wouldn't come home because of something, so my father would take us to grandma's house to have dinner. He usually had one bowl of noodles, but he would always eat two or three bowls at grandma's house. One day when my father was frying shredded potatoes, I was helping him and asked him casually: Do you think no matter how good other people cook, my grandma’s cooking is the most delicious? Dad said without thinking, of course, it tastes like the one your grandma made! If nothing else, your grandma’s fried noodles with half a green onion in a bowl are more delicious than other people’s delicacies! Only then did I realize that what made my father greedy was not the taste of the food itself, but the familiar taste that he had been accustomed to for decades! Now let me share with you what my father does——
