Peel and wash the zucchini, boil the ribs in water and set aside, and soak the scallops in water for 2 hours or more.

Cut the zucchini crosswise into segments slightly thicker than the scallops.

Use a knife to remove the melon sac and dig out a hole about the same size as the scallops to become a melon ring; fill the scallops into the melon ring.

Put the ribs and melon rings in the soup pot, add the garlic and add appropriate water. Bring to a boil over high heat for ten minutes, then simmer over low heat for about half an hour. If the soaking time of the scallops is short, the stewing time can be appropriately extended. Cook until the zucchini becomes soft and add appropriate amount of salt to taste. You don’t need too much salt because the scallops themselves are salty.
