【Sichuan】Fried dough sticks
Overview
Fried dough sticks are a favorite breakfast food for many people. Speaking of its origin, it is also related to Qin Hui. "History of the Song Dynasty" records: In the eleventh year of Shaoxing, Emperor Gaozong of the Southern Song Dynasty, Qin Hui and a group of traitors killed Yue Fei and his son on trumped-up charges. The soldiers and civilians of the Southern Song Dynasty were filled with indignation. At that time, there were two food vendors selling breakfast near Fengbo Pavilion in Lin'an. They each grabbed the dough, kneaded two dough figures shaped like Qin Hui and Wang respectively, twisted them together and put them in a pan to fry, and called them fried cypress. Suddenly, the people buying breakfast shouted with understanding: Eat fried cypress! Eat fried cypress! In order to vent their resentment, people rushed to imitate him. Since then, fried dough sticks have appeared in cooked food stalls everywhere. To this day, in some places, fried dough sticks are still called fried cypress.
