Wash the yam, grate it, and cut it into long sections of suitable size; soak it in light salt water for 5 minutes, pick it up, and drain the water.

Wrap the yams tightly with tin foil.

Preheat the oven to 220 degrees, bake on the middle rack, upper and lower heat for 20 minutes. (You can take it out and flip it several times to prevent it from burning)

Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes.
