Homemade hawthorn strips
Overview
The commercially available dry and hard hawthorn slices and hawthorn strips are what I have always wanted to make, but I have never made it because I couldn’t find a ready-made recipe for reference. I have a friend who is an old pastry chef in a food factory and has retired. He taught me how to make hawthorn cakes using the traditional method. He also taught me how to make moon cakes, Shaqima, Kaixiao and other cakes. I also asked him how to make hawthorn slices and strips, but because the food factory where he worked had never made this kind of food, he could not provide me with recipes and methods. I have been groping for a long time, using various methods and recipes, and finally made the hawthorn slices and hawthorn strips I wanted, and the texture and taste are very good. The moment I made the successful product, I was really excited. I gave it to everyone in the family to taste and evaluate, and I was looking forward to their evaluation. When everyone said it was delicious, I felt relieved. I gave it to my grandson. He kept eating it one after another because it contained a lot of sugar. After he ate 3 pieces, I hurriedly hid the box containing the hawthorn sticks. I only gave him a little bit every day. The key is that with the preparation method, I can make reliable hawthorn sticks for my family and baby to eat at any time. I don’t have to buy them, and I feel safe. This is delicious food you can trust!

Ingredients
Steps
-
Remove the stems and seeds of fresh hawthorn
-
Boil pure hawthorn pulp and put it in a steamer
-
It is best to cover it with a plate to prevent steam from flowing into the basin
-
Steam over high heat for 20 minutes
-
Then add rock sugar powder while hot. I ground the rock sugar into powder. You can also use the same amount of white sugar.
-
Use a wall breaker to stir into a paste. If you don’t have a wall breaker, just use any mixing machine at home
-
Pour the mixed paste into a basin and let it cool. It's cold now, so just put it in the kitchen to cool and it will solidify
-
Slice the solidified hawthorn and then cut it into strips about 8 mm wide and 60 mm long
-
Place on baking sheet
-
Bake in the oven at 90 degrees with heated air circulation for about 6 hours. Because my oven can only time up to 3 hours in this state and cannot display 5 hours, I added 3 hours after the 3 hours ended. The specific time can be flexibly controlled, as long as the hawthorn strips are basically dry

Baked hawthorn strips. I need to bake 2 pans here. I don’t want to make too much, so I can cut the quantity in half
