Homemade Black Sesame Peanut Yuanxiao
Overview
Today is the Lantern Festival. After the Lantern Festival, the New Year is counted. Everyone is about to start a busy new year. Here I wish all my friends, known and unknown, good luck in the Year of the Dragon! My daughter is here to wish you all a happy New Year! This is my first time to make Lantern Festival. It is actually very easy to make, but I didn’t expect the process to be so long. It almost started from noon to evening. There are so many details and taking photos. It was such a busy day of editing! But the process of making it was so happy. My daughter participated in the whole process. Although she made trouble and helped, I made a mess, but it was really full and full of happiness! This time I made a five-color Lantern Festival. I saw a lot of color making methods on the Internet and thought it was quite easy to make. However, when I actually made it, the colors would still change at any time. After the purple sweet potato is boiled, add lemon to make it pink, and add baking soda or alkali to make it green. That's the magic of anthocyanins, love the color change. It’s really fun for the family to make and play together!

Steps
-
Prepare the glutinous rice flour, purple sweet potato, carrot, black sesame and peanut fillings and make them when making Yuanxiao noodles.
-
The picture shows all the ingredients for making Yuanxiao. With these fillings and skin, you can make it.
-
Slice purple sweet potato.
-
Bring to a boil in a pot.
-
Grate the carrots into shreds.
-
Fry carrots into carrot juice.
-
Prepare the ingredients for color change.
-
Everyone must pay attention to the fact that the boiled water from purple potatoes becomes less purple after being stored for a long time, and is a bit blue.
-
After squeezing in the lemon, it immediately turns pink, it’s amazing!
-
This green color is not very obvious, but it has something to do with the purple sweet potato water. If the fresh purple sweet potato water should be purple, it will eventually turn green.
-
The best water temperature is 80 degrees. If the water is too cold, it will not be easy to knead the glutinous rice noodles.
-
Crush the cooked purple potatoes to make them purple.
-
Boil the squeezed carrot juice so that the glutinous rice flour mixes easily.
-
Originally I wanted white, pink, orange, purple, and green, but the pink, orange, and good noodles made the colors less obvious.
-
Knead the prepared stuffing into pieces.
-
Take a piece of dough and slowly press it into a dough sheet. The thickness of the dough sheet is the thickness of the final glutinous rice balls. This depends on personal taste.
-
The fillings are also based on personal taste. If you like bigger fillings, just add more. My family likes the fillings to be moderate, so the fillings are neither too big nor too small.
-
After closing it, it became rounded after a little tidying up. If it is not wrapped properly and is torn, put a little flour on top, and the glutinous rice will stick to itself during cooking and will not be visible at all.
-
You can make more at a time and freeze in the refrigerator.
-
Cook as much as you like.
