Overview
Preserved vegetables, namely dried radish, dried radish. Together with Chaoshan pickles and fish sauce, it is also known as the Three Treasures of Chaoshan. Because radish is commonly known as cabbage in Chaoshan, it is also called preserved vegetable. Preserved vegetables are very helpful for digestion and are a frequent visitor to Chaoshan people’s breakfast table. Sometimes they overeat and eat a piece of preserved vegetables and they will feel very comfortable. I made this preserved egg dish today, which is a Chaoshan specialty. My mother-in-law grew, dried and pickled the radishes herself. Every Chinese New Year, when everyone in the family is about to leave and go to work, they take a bottle of preserved vegetables with them!
