Overview

Glutinous rice with dates is often called "too soft in heart" because the glutinous rice wrapped in red dates is very sweet and soft, hence the name.

  1. Soak the red dates for one to two hours, then remove the core with a knife and set aside.

  2. Add 3 tablespoons of glutinous rice flour to appropriate amount of boiling water, knead into a smooth dough with moderate hardness, and then knead into thin strips. (I forgot to take pictures while kneading the dough T_T)

  3. Cut the long dough into small sections with a knife and stuff it into the pitted red dates.

  4. Add an appropriate amount of water (not too much), a small piece of rock sugar, and red dates to the pot. After boiling, turn to medium-low heat and simmer until the soup becomes thick. It takes about 20 minutes.

  5. Dish out the red dates, pour over the soup, and sprinkle with some sesame seeds for decoration.
