Southern Fujian Chinese Valentine’s Day Fruit

Overview

Today’s last article is the belated Chinese Valentine’s Day fruit, a traditional food during the Chinese Valentine’s Day in southern Fujian. Every year, the seventh day of the seventh lunar month is also called the Qixi Festival. The Qixi Festival is a traditional Chinese festival and also the Chinese Valentine's Day. On the seventh day of the seventh lunar month in the lunar calendar, our hometown will make a traditional food, Qixi Guo, which is actually a glutinous rice ball made of glutinous rice flour, dipped in white sugar and crushed peanuts, similar to glutinous rice cakes. Think about it, isn’t that what food is all about? Food made from the same ingredients has different shapes, and is called differently in different festivals and places. Many of our families now rarely cook this kind of traditional food. After all, everything is readily available for sale, so it is more convenient to just buy some. Our family still makes it every year. After all, it is not troublesome, and it feels more secure to eat when you make it yourself.
