【Northeast】Red bean cake
Overview
The New Year celebrations in northern rural areas are full of flavor. After the small New Year, they start to get busy, killing pigs and chickens, making bean stuffing, and putting up window grilles. In the city, people are also preparing New Year goods, making bean stuffing, making buns, dumplings, and buying frozen pears. There were no refrigerators at that time, and there was a large natural refrigerator outside, and the prepared food was placed in a large vat. You can eat the red bean cakes throughout the first month. The red bean cakes are more fragrant than the red bean buns. When I was a child, when my father was preparing New Year’s goods, I always asked him to bake some of the red bean cakes and taste the softness and bean flavor of the red bean cakes in advance. I like this natural delicacy. After so many years away from my hometown, I still have a soft spot for it.
