Onion-flavored flower rolls

Overview

Among the staple foods in the north, steamed buns and hanaki are indispensable. Make a lot of them at once, and then freeze them in the refrigerator. When you need to eat, just take them out and heat them up. They are convenient and fast staple foods. In the future, my mother-in-law will not make hanaki, so she specifically asked my boyfriend to let me do it. So shy

Steps

  1. Put baking powder and a little sugar in warm water around 35 degrees, let it sit for 5 minutes, slowly pour in the flour, use chopsticks to beat the flour into a cotton-like shape with only a little dry powder, and knead it with your hands; cover it with plastic wrap and ferment in a warm place until it doubles in size. (I put it in the heated rice cooker liner, and the heat preservation effect is great)

  6. Sprinkle dry flour on a cutting board, cut a portion of the dough, and roll it into a large rectangular shape. (I like it a little thinner because the twisted flowers look better)

  7. Brush a layer of clear oil on the rolled dough, sprinkle some chopped green onion, and then evenly sprinkle with chili powder and a small amount of salt.

  8. Fold both ends of the dough towards the middle. Then brush this surface with clear oil again. (You can also roll it up. I like to fold it in half because I think it looks better when twisted)

  12. Use chopsticks to press the middle of the dough, pick up the dough with both hands and stretch it slightly along the indentation of the chopsticks, twist both ends in reverse and pinch tightly (I am the only one at home, so I cannot take pictures of this step of twisting, please forgive me)

  13. After twisting, let it rest for 15 minutes, then put it in cold water. After the water boils, steam for 15 minutes. Do not open the lid after turning off the heat, and steam for another 5 minutes.
