Leibo Zheergen

Leibo Zheergen

Overview

Zheergen is one of the wild vegetables we eat most. Farmers dig it up and sell it in the market almost every day. Zheergen, also known as Houttuynia cordata, is the same as durian. People who like it smell fragrant, but those who don't like it find it unpleasant. People here grew up eating this wild vegetable, so everyone likes to eat it. Sometimes the dug-out roots are a bit hard and a bit old due to the soil and moisture. Such folded roots are not tasty when eaten cold, so they put them in a garlic mortar and add some chili pepper and salt and mash them before eating. In this way, eating the folded roots is more delicious, and it is also suitable for the elderly who have no teeth and like to eat folded roots.
