Overview

There is such a legend about the origin of Geza. Geza originally had no name. As we all know, the Empress Dowager Cixi and Lafayette had to serve many dishes for every meal at that time. Not only could they not repeat the same dishes, but they would only eat one bite. Therefore, it is really difficult and may cause them to lose their heads. At that time, there happened to be a chef who suddenly thought of the Geza dish and prepared it for Lafayette. Because Lafayette had eaten all the delicacies from the mountains and the sea, he felt fresh and refreshing after tasting it. The taste was so good. He had never eaten it before, so he asked the eunuch next to him: What is the name of this dish? The eunuch didn't know either, so he quickly sent a message to the chef. Because Geza didn't have a name at the time, the chef couldn't answer it, so he replied: This dish doesn't have a name yet, please ask Lafayette to give it a name. Because Lafayette had already taken a bite, the eunuch replied while trying to remove the dish. However, Lafayette thought it was delicious and wanted to make an exception to eat some more, so he casually said: Leave it alone. The eunuch thought that Lafayette had given him a name, so he quickly sent a message: Lafayette had given him a name, and it was called Geza. Since then, Geza's name has spread and it has become a unique snack in Tangshan. There are many ways to eat Geza, including sliding Geza, braised Geza, sweet and sour Geza, glass Geza, Geza circle and so on. It can be used as a meal or as a dish. It is a unique delicacy that Tangshan people cannot live without.
