Roasted chestnuts with sugar
Overview
My sister’s hometown produces chestnuts in Tai’an, Shandong Province, and they send some over every year. They spoil after eating too much, so I don’t want them this year. But when I saw the photos of boiled chestnuts she posted in WeChat Moments, I still drooled, so I shamelessly asked for some, hahaha... My eldest son loves chestnuts the most. He buys them when he sees them on the roadside. I use an electric baking pan and the method is as follows😄

Ingredients
Steps
-
Pick chestnuts of similar size, clean them and cut out crosses with scissors
-
Place chestnuts on a clean plate, add cooking oil and mix well
-
Preheat the electric baking pan, pour the chestnuts mixed with oil, and select the popcorn/peanut setting. You have to select this setting twice in total. After the pot is hot, turn the chestnuts back and forth and pour half a bowl of water to prevent the chestnuts from drying out.
-
Stir a spoonful of sugar and half a bowl of water into sugar water, pour it into the pot and stir-fry the chestnuts until the sugar water evaporates. Unplug the electric baking pan and use the residual heat from the pot to simmer the chestnuts.
