【Hubei】Stewed rice cakes with vegetables and fish cakes
Overview
Nian gao (rice cake) is a traditional food in China. It is a cake steamed with sticky glutinous rice or rice flour. It used to be a seasonal food during the Chinese Lunar New Year. But now that material supplies are abundant, you can eat rice cakes whenever you want. My family especially likes to eat rice cakes. When the season comes, we always go to the time-honored Dehua rice cake in Wuhan and buy a few kilograms of rice cakes. Most of the time, we eat them early in the morning, fried or boiled. Anyway, my family likes them.
