Overview

A must-eat dish for Shanghainese during the Chinese New Year, the freshly marinated smoked fish is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. After a while, it has a different texture, soft and tasty. It is also great for cooking casseroles if it has been left overnight.

  1. Prepare the ingredients.

  2. Wash the herring and cut into pieces. Drain.

  3. Fry slowly in a pan over medium-low heat.
