Overview

When I was a kid, I was really looking forward to the Chinese New Year, because during the New Year there would be a lot of candies to eat! At that time, the Chinese New Year was all about eating and eating! Putting on new clothes, holding a few pieces of candy in my pocket, I felt so happy! The Chinese New Year is coming soon, and sugar is still a seasonal item! Nougat has become popular in the circle of friends, and I’m excited to see all the different recipes and recipes. I just bought some nougat wrappers when I was shopping some time ago. After receiving them, I felt that it would be a waste if I didn't make some candies. I also have ready-made fried peanuts at home, which I can't finish in a short while, so making nougat is a good choice. Just do it, and since it’s your first time, let’s make the marshmallow version that’s the easiest to make. I made it at home yesterday. My first experience of making nougat was generally quite smooth. I specially took some photos to describe the process. If you are interested in trying making nougat, you can get ready to start! There is a summary of my experience at the end of the article, be sure to read it!

Steps

  1. Prepare various ingredients. The peanuts I use here are fried peanuts, peeled and red coated. If you are using raw peanuts, you can roast them in the oven and remove the red coating;

  2. Mix the cooked peanuts and dried cranberries together;

    Nougat step 2
  3. Place a non-stick pan on the stove, lower the heat, and put the butter in; (be sure to lower the heat)!

    Nougat step 3
  4. Add marshmallows;

    Nougat step 4
  5. Use a wooden spatula to stir to melt the butter and marshmallows.

    Nougat step 5
  6. Pour in the milk powder and quickly stir with a wooden spatula;

    Nougat step 6
  7. The milk powder and the previous butter marshmallows are mixed together; it is already a little sticky at this time;

    Nougat step 7
  8. Pour in cooked peanuts and dried cranberries;

    Nougat step 8
  9. Use a wooden spatula to quickly stir evenly. The speed must be fast and the time cannot be too long. Turn off the fire after it is evenly distributed; (note that the fire on the stove should be low, low, low. Say important things three times. If the fire is too high, the sugar will be boiled and it will not taste good!)

    Nougat step 9
  10. While it's hot, pour the sugar in the pot into a non-stick baking pan. It must be non-stick, otherwise it will stick everywhere and you won't be able to eat the sugar! You can spread the plastic wrap while it's hot and flatten it with your hands or a rolling pin, or use a silicone spatula like I did to flatten the sugar. My gold plate is square, 28CM*28CM, and this square is just enough to make one plate.

  11. Let it cool down and turn it upside down; use a knife to cut it into strips of about 1cm, and then cut it into pieces of appropriate size; it is sugar;

    Nougat step 11
  12. When you cut it out, you will find that it is actually in many pieces. This is my first time making it, and the sizes of the cuts are uneven. Fortunately, it tastes very good. Let’s mix it up!

    Nougat step 12
  13. Put it in the prepared nougat wrapper and seal it.

    Nougat step 13
  14. I don’t have a sealing machine, so I used the traditional sealing method, candle sealing, which is a bit unsightly. But it’s still pretty good to give it away like this. There is also another kind of candy wrapper sold online, which can be twisted at both ends. Making candies is quite simple, but packaging them one by one is quite tiring, so think twice before making candies.

    Nougat step 14
  15. Peel one at will. The cranberries taste sweet and sour, the peanuts are crispy, and the candy is full of milky flavor. Can I say it is much more delicious than the ones bought outside? However, my cost is quite high. The milk powder I use costs several hundred yuan per can. Because my second child does not eat milk powder, I use all the opened milk powder for other purposes and cannot waste it! Ordinary milk powder can be used in the same way.
