First, prepare the required ingredients. I bought fresh kelp here, which is very thick and tastes fresher. However, the fresh kelp you just bought cannot be washed with water immediately.

Divide a piece of kelp into several pieces and place them loosely on the basket. Fill the pot with an appropriate amount of cold water, cover it with a lid and steam it. Start the timer after steaming, and turn off the heat after 10 minutes.

Do not open the lid of the pot immediately after turning off the heat. Let it simmer for another 3-5 minutes. Then let it cool naturally until it is completely cool. Wash it with cold water. You need to wash it several times. If you are in a hurry, wash it with warm water. Do not wash it directly with cold water, otherwise the kelp will become hard.
