Eight Treasures Barley and Lily Porridge
Overview
Barley has the functions of strengthening the spleen and stomach, nourishing the lungs and warming the liver, clearing away heat and calming wind, and killing insects and eliminating dampness. Lily has the functions of moistening the lungs and replenishing the stomach, clearing the mind and calming the soul, relieving jitters and rejuvenating the skin, dispelling wind and heat, resolving dampness and dissipating carbuncle. The combination of the two substances has the functions of strengthening the spleen and lungs, removing dampness, smoothing the intestines and laxative, beautifying and strengthening the skin. I grabbed some eight-treasure rice porridge, just to garnish it. Unexpectedly, after a little bit of eight-treasure porridge rice was boiled until soft and rotten, it turned out to be more rice than barley. The barley lily is deeply involved, rather like a foil. . . .
