Cold Malantou
Overview
It’s the herbivorous season again~ Malantou is also known as malan, red stalk, chicken intestine, tibia, purple chrysanthemum, crabgrass, etc. It is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. Malantou is originally a wild species, growing on roadsides, fields, and hillsides, and is found in most parts of the country. There are two types of Malantou: red-stemmed and green-stemmed Malantou, both of which are edible. The red-stemmed Malantou is better for medicinal purposes. Due to the relationship between Cold Food Festival and Qingming Festival, some places still retain the habit of eating cold food during Qingming Festival. In Zhejiang, when eating Malan's first-class fresh vegetables, the word "green" is chosen to match the meaning of "green" during the Qingming Festival.
