Iron pot stewed fish cake
Overview
Fish stewed in iron pot with pancakes is an authentic Northeastern dish that appeared in the third episode of "Tongue 2". I remember that when I was young, my family still used a wood-fired stove with a big iron pot on top. When my grandma was stewing fish or chicken, she would stick a few coarse grain pancakes on the edge of the pot. Often, my brother and I would snatch up all the pancakes before the food was served. Now I don’t have a wood stove or a big iron pot, so I tried a little on the gas stove. Although it’s not as good as grandma’s cooking, it finally has a bit of the taste in my memory. The corn tortilla dipped in fish soup tastes particularly delicious.
