How to cook canned cherries at home

Remove stems from cherries and wash

If making cherry jam, I remove the pits, but for canning, I do not remove the pits

Boil water with appropriate amount of rock sugar

Bring to a boil, add cherries and cook for 5 minutes, turn off the heat

Put it into a canning bottle while it is hot and tighten the lid. The bottle must be clean and free of oil and water

In another pot, add water and bring to a boil with the cap down

Boil the pot for five minutes and turn off the heat. This step is for longer storage. If you do not plan to store it for a long time, you can omit this step

It will taste better if cooled and refrigerated
