Sad jelly
Overview
Sad jelly is one of the Han Hakka specialty snacks in Sichuan. There are two explanations for the sad jelly: one is that the Cantonese Hakka people from Huguang and Sichuan who lived in Luodai Town made the jelly when they missed their hometown. They were sad because of their longing, so they got the name; the other is that the jelly is so spicy that anyone who eats it will be boiled to tears, and everyone will burst into tears. Others think they have encountered something sad. I bought pea starch from the Internet and decided to make some. It happens to be a hot day and it will feel very cool to eat it. Maybe I didn’t mix it authentic enough, but it tastes really delicious
