Braised Chicken with Potatoes

Braised Chicken with Potatoes

Overview

The day before yesterday, the eighth day of April, this is a festival in our country. I don’t know what festival it is. Anyway, the old people have to burn incense and worship gods. My old man went back to his hometown to celebrate the festival. He brought back half a small chicken. The chicken is relatively old, so let’s boil potatoes.

  2. Prepare some ginger and star anise scented cinnamon etc. You don’t have to put in the star anise or anything like that. I always have it at home and I just put it in easily.

  3. Peel the potatoes and cut them into large pieces. It is best to wash the potatoes to remove the starch on the surface.

  6. Add an appropriate amount of water to remove the ginger flavor, etc. After boiling, cover the pot over low heat and simmer.

  7. I couldn't help but put in a few more red dates halfway through.

  8. When it was simmering, I saw that there was a lot of oil, so I skimmed some of it out and kept it for cooking noodles. By the way, chickens are not native chickens and do not have oil. My family usually buys the kind of chickens raised by villagers for self-sufficiency. There are also situations where there is a lot of oil. It was the same with the chickens raised at home in the past. It is not absolutely less oil, but the ones with more oil are usually roosters and rarely hens.

  9. When the chicken is almost cooked, put the potatoes down and simmer together. In my photo, it looks like there is no water, but actually there is enough water.

  10. Simmer until the potatoes are soft and translucent, remove the juice from the pot.
