Tom Yum soup, also called Tomyam soup, Tomyum or tomyam in English, is a distinctive hot and sour soup from Thailand and Laos. The main ingredients include lemon leaves, lemongrass, shrimp, etc. Tom Yum soup is very common in Thailand. This soup is often consumed in large and small restaurants and ordinary people's homes, thus becoming a representative of Thai cuisine. At the same time, it is also a very popular dish in other Southeast Asian countries, such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Introduction Name In the name of this soup, Tomyin means hot and sour, and Gong means shrimp. When translated, it actually means hot and sour shrimp soup. However, Tom Yum Goong soup is extremely spicy and contains a lot of curry, but after getting used to it, many people will become addicted to it. Legend has it that during the Thonburi Dynasty in Thailand in the 18th century, the Chinese King Taksin was in power. Princess Miaoyun fell ill and didn't want to eat anything. King Taksin asked the royal chef to make some appetizer soup for the princess. Unexpectedly, after the princess drank this bowl of soup, she felt completely comfortable and her condition was relieved. King Zheng Xin named it Tom Yum Goong soup and designated it as the national soup. The main ingredients are Thailand's unique lemon leaves, lemongrass, chili peppers and shrimps. The soup combines the spicy, sour, sweet and salty flavors with the rich spice flavor of tom yum soup. This soup is not troublesome to make, but it requires several ingredients unique to Thailand. One of the most important ingredients is Thai lemon, a flavored fruit unique to Southeast Asia. Another condiment is fish sauce, which is a typical southern Thai condiment that is actually a condiment like soy sauce. The source of the spiciness in the soup is Thai chili pepper, which is said to be the hottest chili pepper in the world. Other seasonings include curry paste, lemongrass, shrimp paste, fish sauce, etc., ranging from mild to extremely spicy. A bowl of soup was brought to the table. It was both spicy and spicy, and had a tender and smooth texture. This soup is sour, spicy, fragrant and sweet, and can be said to have all five flavors.
