Wash the barley and soak it for 2-3 hours in advance.

Remove the flesh from the winter melon and cut it into large pieces. Do not peel it. The soup with the skin is more nutritious. Cut carrots into large pieces.

Add an appropriate amount of water to the pot, bring to a boil and cook the cleaned ribs for 2 minutes to remove the blood.

Take out the ribs, wash them, add cold water to the soup pot, and add the ribs.
