Refreshing after the bitter summer - mung bean, lotus seed and barley soup
Overview
The weather is really getting hotter day by day. I went out at noon yesterday and came home covered in sweat and unbearably thirsty. I remembered that I had not finished the mung bean, lotus seed and barley soup I cooked in the morning, so I quickly scooped up a bowl. As soon as I took my mouth, I felt extremely refreshing. After drinking it, I felt so comfortable from throat to stomach that it was beyond words. Mung beans have the effect of clearing away heat and detoxification, barley has good effects of strengthening the spleen and diuresis, diluting dampness and removing paralysis, clearing away heat and pus, and clearing away dampness and heat. Lotus seeds can strengthen the heart and calm the mind, nourish and replenish deficiency. The combination of these three has a very good effect of clearing away heat, nourishing the liver and removing dampness. On such a hot summer day, there is nothing more satisfying than having a bowl of refreshing, nutritious and beneficial soup!
