Roasted chestnuts with sugar

Roasted chestnuts with sugar

Overview

On Sunday, my husband's colleague called us and asked us to go chestnut hunting in the mountains. My husband didn't want to go because he was afraid of the trouble. It took me a while to persuade him to agree, because I really like eating chestnuts, so of course I wouldn't miss such an opportunity. So I drove 30 kilometers to the destination. Due to my clumsiness, I didn't get much, but someone kindly gave me a sack. Because the chestnut shells are extremely hard and prickly, my husband and I took turns, and even my mother came to help. It took several days to finish, which was really a hard job. Although the process was very hard, I couldn't be happier when I saw the fresh red chestnuts peeled out. The next step is to make sugar-fried chestnuts. You can eat fragrant and sweet chestnuts in just 5 minutes in the microwave, saving time and effort!

  1. This is a chestnut I picked myself. The shell will crack when mature, but there are many thorns

  2. Peel them out one by one, wash them, and use scissors to cut a slit on the bulging back (be sure to cut the shell, otherwise it will explode in the microwave)
