Boshan Tofu Box
Overview
Boshan Tofu Box is a special local dish in Shandong cuisine, and its shape is unique. Use northern tofu, peel it and cut it into 5 cm square cubes. Use a knife to cut out the lid of the tofu block (do not cut it), then hollow out the inside, put in the stuffing composed of various ingredients, then cover the lid, put it in a steamer and steam for fifteen minutes, the soup will thicken, and it is basically complete. Legend has it that Qianlong once tasted this dish in Boshan and admired it so much that the price of this dish doubled. Tofu Box has always used vegetarian and meat dishes as a cover to attract customers. Although anything can be put in the box, for more than a hundred years, it has been customary to use pork as the main filling, and then choose vegetables such as fungus, green cabbage heart, onion, ginger, and seasonings. It is absolutely delicious and nutritious.

Cut the tofu into 4*3*3 large pieces.

Add oil to the pan and fry the tofu cubes until golden brown on all sides.

Cut three sides along the rectangular edge and hollow out the tofu core inside.

Fill the tofu box with the tofu core and meat filling, and seal it with egg white.

Place the sealed tofu box into the pot and steam over high heat for fifteen minutes.

Place the steamed tofu boxes neatly on the plate, put the base oil in the wok, stir-fry, add the soup in the steaming plate, add appropriate amount of water, season, and thicken with water starch.

Add black fungus, wolfberry, and asparagus slices, remove from the pan, and pour onto the tofu box.
