Overview

Rice cake is a seasonal food during the Lunar New Year. Nian Gao is a traditional East Asian New Year food. Nian Gao is homophonic with Nian Gao, which means getting higher every year. It symbolizes that income, position, or children's knowledge and height are getting higher year by year. In the early days, rice cakes were used to worship gods and ancestors on New Year's Eve, and then gradually became a Spring Festival food. The main ingredient of rice cake is glutinous rice, so patients with stomach problems should not eat more.
