Glutinous rice siomai
Overview
Glutinous rice is a warm and tonic food, which has the effects of replenishing qi, strengthening the spleen and stomach, and stopping constipation and sweating. The most nourishing food is grains. Don’t always think about wontons, dumplings, and steamed buns. Eat some siomai and some glutinous rice, it will be healthier!

Steps
-
Filling preparation: pork, mushrooms, fungus, and bitter bamboo shoots.
-
Pork is minced at the market butcher shop. Add appropriate amount of chopped ginger, light soy sauce, sesame oil, cooking wine, and five-spice powder and mix well. Let the meat filling taste.
-
Add shiitake mushrooms, fungus, and bitter bamboo shoots to a blender.
-
Prepared vegetable filling.
-
Put vegetable oil in the pot, add the meat filling and stir-fry, then add the vegetable stuffing and stir-fry together. Finally, add steamed glutinous rice, appropriate amount of light soy sauce, and cooking wine and stir-fry until fragrant. The siomai fillings are ready.
-
Prepare the siomai wrappers: Prepare an appropriate amount of dumpling wrappers, bought at the market.
-
Prepare the siomai skin: Prepare an appropriate amount of wonton skin, bought at the market.
-
Next, start making the filling: prepare a wrapper, take an appropriate amount of glutinous rice filling and put it into the wrapper.
-
Close the mouth with a tiger's mouth.
-
Well-made siomai. (The first time I did it, it was quite ugly.)
-
Cover the steaming layer with a layer of gauze. After the water is hot, steam for 10 minutes until the skin is cooked. This is a steamed siomai, the yellow one is a siomai wrapped in wonton skin, and the white one is a siomai wrapped in dumpling skin. I don’t know why the white wonton skin turns yellow after being steamed.

It’s time to eat! I found that the siomai wrapped in dumpling wrappers tastes exactly the same as the siomai in the breakfast shop on the street here.
