Painted glutinous rice balls with tomato fruit - healthy tomato flavor
Overview
Cherry tomatoes are rich in nutrients, bright in color, and eye-catching in appearance. It would be great to make them into colorful glutinous rice balls. The dough made by mixing fresh cherry tomato juice and tomato paste is pink, but after steaming, something magical happened. The color becomes darker and is very similar to the color of tomato pulp. In order to make the photo look better, I added a little bit of red pigment. In fact, the color will be just as beautiful without adding pigment. It is very similar to the color of tomato pulp, and it looks like the texture of tomato pulp salsa. Take a bite, it's soft and glutinous, and you can feel a little bit of sourness the moment your tongue touches the dumpling skin, and you can immediately eat the sweet bean paste filling inside. The dumpling skin has a strong tomato flavor. I didn’t expect it to be so delicious before I made it. I was just thinking about what red color could be used as a pigment. I tried tomato juice, and I didn’t expect the color to be so good. Sure enough, wool comes from sheep. Hehe, I’ll think about other natural dyes and shapes~~

Ingredients
Steps
-
Wash the cherry tomatoes and cut them in half across the middle, squeeze out the tomato seeds and juice, leaving the pulp
-
Use a juicer to slightly crush the pulp (do not add water). If it is difficult to crush, you can chop it with a knife. Use a strainer to squeeze out the tomato juice
-
Add a tablespoon of tomato paste to the filtered tomato juice and bring to a boil
-
Immediately pour the boiled tomato juice into the glutinous rice flour and orange flour and mix it into a dough. Do not pour it all at once. Pay attention to the moisture of the dough and mix it into a soft dough. If you feel that the color is not dark enough, you can add more tomato sauce. The color of the dough does not need to be too red, because the color will be much darker after steaming
-
In addition, mix 20g glutinous rice flour and 10g rice flour and mix with boiling water to form a soft dough. Add a little matcha powder and knead it into a light green dough
-
Take a piece of red dough and wrap it with bean paste filling
-
Knead into a ball and press lightly on the top of the ball with your fingers to make it look like a tomato
-
Press the green dough into a slightly thick pancake, and use a flower mold to press out small flowers. If you don’t have a mold, you can use a pen cap or something like a pen cap to press out small circles
-
Gently press the floret with your hands to make it bigger, and trim the shape with a toothpick. The tomato leaves are a bit pointed
-
Apply a little water to stick the leaves on the top of the meatballs, and use chopsticks to gently press out the grooves
-
Use a toothpick to press out a thread in the middle of each leaf
-
Place a small piece in the center of the leaf as a fruit base, and place the prepared tomato balls on a plate covered with plastic wrap
-
After the water comes to a boil, add the glutinous rice balls and steam over high heat for 8-10 minutes
-
After serving, brush a thin layer of oil on the surface to prevent it from drying out
